Water Gardens

Are you thinking of installing a water fixture in your garden? Creating a fountain or a pond in your garden will not only make it a great deal prettier, but it’s a well-known crowd-pleaser as well. What kind of water fixtures or ponds are available in the market today? Here are some suggestions to help you get a start on beautifying your outdoor space with water garden ornaments.

What I remember most about my grandmother’s house was the huge pond with a lot of fish in it. I would spend hours by that pond, watching the fish dart by and looking for tadpoles.

Having a pond or some kind of water fixture in your garden is something everyone is sure to enjoy. The following are some kinds you can choose from:

1. Bowls and Barrels – If you have limited space in your yard, containers such as bowls and barrels are your best bet. All you really need is a sunny place outside, some aquatic plants, rocks and maybe some fish.

2. Raised Ponds – Raised ponds are ideal if you have children running around. You can rest assured that no one will be tumbling into the water. However, you’ll probably need the help of a mason in building this type of pond. Be creative about it, though. You can use cobblestones, bricks or whatever strikes your fancy for it.

3. Sunken Ponds – If you want something more natural-looking, a sunken pond will be ideal for you. You can make it as small or big as you like, depending on the amount of fish you’re planning to put in. Koi is always a good type of fish to put in a pond. They’re colorful and easy to take care of. You can also opt to go all out and build a bridge over your sunken pond.

4. Waterfalls and Fountains – If the sound of trickling water calms you, then perhaps you should think about installing a waterfall of a fountain in your garden. These come in different shapes and sizes, so do your research. Find one that will suit the size and theme of your garden.

5. Solar Cascade Fountain – For an eco-friendly, alternative, a solar cascade fountain will definitely fit the bill. Solar-powered, it operates in direct sunlight through solar panels and recycles water. You don’t need to worry about wiring with this environmental garden ornament – simply install and enjoy! Plus, you won’t have to spend a penny on operating costs!

With these suggestions, you’ll be well on your way to having a cool, water garden you and your family and friends will surely enjoy.
